Telecare Service
Telecare
consists of special sensors placed around the home and linked to a
care alarm. A wide range of sensors are available to monitor certain
health or environmental factors.
The alarm and sensors are linked through
to a control centre which monitors all calls 24-hours a day, 365 days
a year. This ensures that swift action can be taken should an incident
occur.
These sensors can help vulnerable people to livesafely and independently
in their own homes for as long as possible.
Smoke
Detector
This operates in the same way as a traditional smoke detector but in addition
to raising a local audible alarm, it will also alert the control centre and ensure
a response to the situation. In situations where the occupant has reduced mobility
or dementia, the sensor provides the reassurance that if they cannot respond
to the alarm themselves, the emergency services are alerted for them.
|
Fall
Detector
This sensor automatically detects a serious fall and raises an alert at the control
centre.
|
Flood
Detector
This sensor provides an early warning by alerting the control centre of potential
flood situations within the home, for example if sink or bath taps are left to
overflow.
|
Bogus
Caller Button
Fitted near a door, this discreet button can be used to call for assistance if
unexpected callers or strangers are at your door.
|
Bed
and Chair Occupancy Sensor
A specially designed pressure pad which fits under the mattress and provides
an early warning by alerting the control centre when the user has left their
bed/chair and has not returned within a predetermined time period. The sensor
can also be used to turn on the bedside light when a person leaves their bed
at night.
|
PIR (Passive Infra Red) Movement Detector
This is used as part of inactivity monitoring and is a way of keeping a check
that the occupant has been active within a set time period, e.g. 12 or 24 hours.
Should no activity be found within that specified time (12 or 24 hours) then
an alarm call is raised.
|
Property
Exit Sensor
The sensor detects an exit from the property between pre-set times and will raise
an alarm if it fails to detect a return after a pre-determined time period.
|
Temperature
Extreme Sensor
Smoke detectors can be too sensitive to be used in the kitchen where many domestic
fires begin. The
temperature extreme sensor solves this problem by detecting a rapid rise in temperature
over a short
period. It will also raise a separate alarm if the temperature falls below a
certain level.
|
Carbon
Monoxide Detector
This detects for potentially dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, such as from
a faulty boiler or gas fire, and raises an alarm. Carbon monoxide can lead to
drowsiness, loss of concentration, headaches and can prove fatal in extreme cases.
