Volunteering Opportunities
Working together –
Could you help us
to make a difference?
The Role of Volunteers
ECA works with a significant number
of volunteers who play an important
part in helping ECA to provide the
best possible service to our clients.
Work undertaken by our existing
volunteers includes:
- Visiting clients - checking the
alarm equipment and client
welfare.
- Reception work - answering the
phone, helping with paperwork or
using the computer.
- Equipment maintenance -
checking and cleaning alarms
and other equipment.
- Fundraising - helping to organise or
assist with a wide range of
fundraising activities from
concerts to street collections.
- Committee membership - a
variety of different roles as a
Trustee, helping with the charity’s
planning and development.
Could you help in any of
these areas?
Thankfully we have a very low
turnover of staff and volunteers,
however, as our work expands we are
always looking to recruit additional
volunteers.

go on to get paid work as a result.”

Quotes from clients & carers
“Gives me confidence”
“You sort of have a comfortable feeling of something supporting you”
“It is reassuring to know I can
summon help if needed while my
carer is not in the house — peace of mind is priceless.”
The Benefits to Volunteers
Our volunteers are an integral part of
our team and their work is valued by
all.
As an ECA volunteer you are giving
your time and skills to help people
maintain their independence. In
return we hope you will benefit by
receiving:
- Initial training for the role.
- Regular ongoing training with staff and other volunteers.
- Support to enable you to develop within your volunteering role.
- The chance to be part of a small friendly team.
- The opportunity to brush up on existing skills & acquire new
ones.
- The satisfaction of making a
difference to people’s lives.
The next step
If you wish to find out more about
volunteering, please telephone,
e-mail or drop in to see us.
Due to the nature of the volunteer
roles an application form needs to be
completed. Two references are
required and ECA would undertake a
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
